Yesterday, the 11th of July, I had the opportunity to participate in a U of U student film entitled "Love Hurts". This film was a silent project and my character is portrayed as a young man that sees the love of his life in a park. Like any bumbling idiot he follows his hormones and chases after the girl without a thought - only as he engages her verbally does he begin to use his brain. He fumbles through an awkward pick-up attempt and she sizes him up. As she goes through the basic characteristics and requirements for her mate. My character doesn't measure up and is pushed to the side by another mail suiter. The girl and the guy leave together.
My character enters into a montage of working out, running a personal grooming. Then he returns to the park just in time to see the other guy backhand the female. Without a thought he runs to her aid and starts a fight with the other guy. The two males enter an extended fight scene - a gallon of Corn Syrup later my character emerges victorious, stammers back to the girl and extends his hand. Just before she takes his hand she sees another fellow and runs off with him. The show then fades to black. I don't know how the show will pan out, but I was told that there will be a punch sound in the darkness with an accompanying bloodcurdling scream.
I think the project was a ton of fun - here is the link to the rough cut.
