In December 2011 I was asked to perform for the introductory performace of Christmas Tapestry.
Christmas Tapestry is an inovative apporach to learning the background of notorious Christmas carols as well as the lyricists and musicians that formulated those cherished songs.
Bled 5 is the core music group for this concept. The main players are Steve Meredith, Kathy Steadman, Greg Boothe, Rich Dixon and Sarah Gunnell - all of whom are accomplished musical performers.
This experience is note-worthy because it was the first time in my professional career where I was directed to play with a metronomic click. I also realized that my natural tendency is to rush the tempo when the songs get intense. So in addition to adding licks to my performances and becoming a more exciting drummer, I need to practice with the metronome more.
All in all, I had a great time and hopefully this show takes off and I'm able to perform with this group next year.
The group's aspiration is to turn this idea into a primary source of income for all members of the performance.
Either way - I loved the experience.
